Everybody know someone who is suffering from cancer,
someone who is fighting against cancer,
someone who won this fight
and someone who lost it.

On the 4th of February, we want to remind you that you have the power to take several actions to reduce .the impact that cancer has on families, communities and individuals.

8.2 million deaths from worldwide cancer, 2012
14.1 million new cases of worldwide Cancer  in 2012

This day aims to save millions of preventable deaths each year by raising awarenessand education about the disease, pressing governments and individuals across the world to take Action.

What is Cancer?
Cancer is a disease of abnormal gene function. Genes are pieces of DNA. They contain the instructions on how to make the proteins the body needs to function, when to destroy damaged cells, and how to keep the cells in balance. Your genes control things such as hair color, eye color, and height. They can also affect your chance of getting certain diseases, such as Cancer. As many people of you know, cancer is the uncontrolled growth and spread of cells. Some cancers may eventually spread into other tissues. This forms a lump called tumour. But there are types of cancer, called leukeamia, which start from blood cells.

The most cancer deaths are caused by lung, stomach, liver, colon and breast cancer. The WHO revealed that in developing countries up to 20 % of cancer deaths could be prevented by immunization against the infection of HBV and HPV.

Are there any Treatments?
Treatments include surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, immune therapy, and targeted therapy (drugs that interfere specifically with cancer cell growth).

We can prevent cancer by educate and inform people about risk factors and the healthy Lifestyle.

What causes Cancer?

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is a form of electromagnetic radiation. The main source of UV radiation (rays) is the sun, although it can also come from man-made sources such as tanning beds and welding torches.

Smoking

Tobacco smoke is made up of more than 7,000 chemicals, including over 70 known to cause cancer (carcinogens).
Pregnant women who smoke risk the health and lives of their unborn babies. The nicotine, carbon monoxide, and other toxins in tobacco smoke enter the mother’s bloodstream, go into the baby’s body, and can keep it from getting the key nutrients and oxygen it needs to grow and develop. Almost every developing organ system is affected by the chemicals in tobacco smoke. This increases the risk of things like:
  • Infant death, Low birth weight
  • Nicotine can cause unwanted symptoms in the baby, such as restlessness, a faster heartbeat, and shorter sleep time

Overweight and obesity
causes many diseases including cancer. The world cancer research Fund International remarked that maintaining a healthy weight and being physically active can prevent the 13 most common Cancers. The World Cancer Research Fund estimates that about 20% of all cancers diagnosed in the US are related to body fatness, physical inactivity, excess alcohol consumption, and/or poor nutrition, and thus could also be prevented.

Being overweight can increase cancer risk in many ways. One of the main ways is that excess weight causes the body to produce and circulate more estrogen and insulin, hormones that can stimulate cancer growth.
Eat healthy foods, be more active, limit your alcohol consumption

What can we do?

I can support others
GIVING HOPE AND SUPPORT TO SOMEONE LIVING WITH CANCER CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN THEIR LIFE.
I can love and be loved
WORKING TOGETHER THROUGH THE CHALLENGES OF CANCER AND ITS TREATMENT CAN HELP PEOPLE LIVING WITH CANCER AND THEIR PARTNERS CONTINUE A CLOSE AND LOVING RELATIONSHIP.
I can return to work
A JOB CAN RESTORE NORMALITY: ROUTINE; STABILITY; SOCIAL CONTACT AND INCOME. WITH THE RIGHT SUPPORT PEOPLE WITH CANCER CAN RETURN  TO WORK SUCCESSFULLY.

We can make the case for investing in cancer control
BUILDING THE ECONOMIC CASE FOR INVESTMENT IN CANCER CAN CHANGE MIND-SETS AND ALLOW GOVERNMENTS TO JUSTIFY CANCER CONTROL AT THEIR HEART OF THEIR NATIONAL HEALTH PLANS.

We can create healthy environments
SCHOOLS AND WORKPLACES CAN BE ENCOURAGED TO IMPLEMENT MEASURES THAT WILL MOTIVATE AND SUSTAIN HEALTHY HABITS THROUGHOUT A PERSON'S  EVERYDAY LIFE.

We can improve access to cancer care
WE ADVOCATE FOR IMPROVED ACCESS TO CANCER TREATMENT AND SERVICES ACROSS THE CARE CONTINUUM. ALL PEOPLE HAVE THE RIGHT TO BENEFIT FROM THESE INTERVENTIONS ON EQUAL TERMS, REGARDLESS OF GEOGRAPHY AND WITHOUT SUFFERING ECONOMIC HARDSHIP AS A CONSEQUENCE.

This day reminds us that people are fighting all over the world and we are proud of everybody who tries to beat cancer, we dedicate this day for our real heroes.
