Do we Need the world Women´s day?

8/3/2019

Comments

I am writing this article on the 8th of March 2019, the world women´s day.
In many countries the international women´s day is a national holiday and since this year its also a holiday in Berlin.
I am asking myself on this day the question, do I really want that the world women´s day is a national holiday?
The answer is: No! I have a lot of things I would like to have instead of a world women´s day.
As a woman, I do not want a national holiday, I would instead prefer to earn as much money as my male co worker.
But if the job market does not change women have to wait 200 more years for that.
I also want the right for self determination about my body to decide by myself If I have an abortion or not.
In Germany I would be great if the paragraphs 218§ and 219§ would be disestablished.
I would love it to be able to go jogging when its dark and in general feel safe outside.
I would wish that my body does not get sexualised any more and I can wear whatever I want without being judged.
I also would prefer do not pay a lot of money every month because I have a period, it is really ridiculous in my opinion that in Germany sanitary products for periods have still the same tax like luxury products.
So you see I could write about the things I would like to have changed forever.
Of course we have already succeeded a lot, if you thing about the fact that not even hundred years ago woman had the first time the chance to vote in Germany.
Generations of feminist fought for the rights I, have as a woman in Germany now.
But there is still a lot of things that we have to change.
So we have to keep fighting for our rights every day.
I support the idea of the woman day. To use this day as a change to strike, fight and demonstrate for woman rights.
But of course I would prefer that we all do not have the need to strike, protest and demonstrate.
Until all of those things I wrote about are just wishes we should keep the woman day but not only on the 8th of March instead on every day.

In France for the International women’s day, a collectif in Paris lead by Julia Pietri (the creator of the Instagram account "Gang du Clito") organise a campaign in the street the 8 of March to sensibilisate about the clitoris and the function that lot of girls don’t know.

In effect, one in four girls aged to 15 ans, don’t know that they have a clitoris and 83% ignore his utility and erogenous function.

The goal of campaign is to change the mentality about the women sexual pleasure, much of women don’t masturbate herself because of the bad communication around the precious organ who's the clitoris.

It’s with a catchy colored poster (free to download an to place in the street) that the woman want to call the people to be aware about and to take in consideration the good fact of the masturbation feminine, moreover, on the website “itsnotabretzel.com” a petition is available to put more in advice the clitoris in the school book.

If you want to participate, there is the link of the petition:: https://www.change.org/p/pour-un-enseignement-du-clitoris-dans-tous-les-manuels-de-svt-itsnotabretzel?recruiter=935664829&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=copylink&utm_campaign=share_petition

8th march - international women's day

7/3/2019

Last March 8th, was celebrated in Spain, as in previous years the International Women's Day, however it was not a demonstration as always, it was a huge feminist strike, in which women stopped all over the country to say  is enough.

Although Spain is a developed country, perhaps it is not so much in terms of equality and gender rights, as we can observe in the following data:
  • There are more employed men despite the fact that there are more women in the Spanish population. Moreover, there are more unemployed women than men, despite being better trained.
  • The tasks of home and childcare are still in the hands of women.
  • In the boards of directors and in the management committees of the companies, there are many more men than women.
  • The woman takes care of the babies, although the man has the same right. Caring for newborns can be an obstacle in the career of many working mothers
  • Salary gap: Men earn on average almost 6,000 euros more than women.
  • Men with a university degree are placed before women with the same title
  • In 2018, 47 women died at the hands of their partners, leaving 39 children under the age of orphans. Ascending to 125,233 complaints of gender violence.
  • In November 2018, VioGen (System for monitoring cases of Gender Violence of the Government) had 57,096 active cases registered: 16 are extreme risk, 183 high and 5,478 medium
  • The vast majority of girls feel scared when walking at night alone on the street, or should warn someone when they get home.

These are some of the facts by which we can say that we are not in an egalitarian society and for this, the 8M will fill the streets again.

Despite being a feminist strike, a large part of the male population also joined, since it is not that we are demanding to be superior to men, we only demand to have the same rights, be free and change that role that women acquired throughout history, because we are in the XXI century and times change, as society advances and women also.

We will support the 8M to fight against each of the injustices that we live daily, against the patriarchy society that reproduces inequality, against sexual, workplace harassment, against machism, against patriarchal justice...
We will shout for all those women who have been subjected to violence of gender and have been silenced, to not to be one more;
We will demand for those who years ago did it for us;
We will require for the future generations won’t have the same problem.
We will fight for a non-discriminatory and egalitarian education, for to have the same rights and opportunities, to stop the obstacles that hinder our professional and personal development ...
And we will continue fighting and claiming, because together we can.

For all this and more, this 8M will stop Spain, because we no longer have fears, because the empowerment of women is possible, and because not anyone could silence us.

So do not stand still, all of us are the society.

International day of wildlife

The oceans and seas are the most undiscovered places in Earth. Other than that there is no such place that human race didnt discovered and started to take advantage of. There is a cause that there is an international day for the wildlife. This years theme was the Life below Water.
The oceans cover more than 70% surface of the Earth and plays a key role in supporting our planet, we rely on it because of food, energy and water.

The ocean containes more than 200.000 discovered species, but the real number is absolutely higher. There are a lot of species who are endangered because of over pullotion or even because of hunting.
Most of the endangered turtles are endangered because humans are harvesting their eggs or the food they need (corals) are destroyed.
Also the dolphin kinds like the Vaquita and Hector’s dolphin are in danger because of fishing.
The most crually hunted marine animal is the Hammerhead shark. The sharks are caught by fishermen, dragged on board and is cut off their fins while they are still breathing. The remaining carcass is thrown into the water and eventually, it bleeds to death.
The largest living mammal on earth is a victim of excessive commercial hunting too.

40% of the ocean is heavily polluted because of the humans. The ocean doesnt just give a living place for more than 200.000 species but gives a livelihood for more than 3 million people. However nowdays 30% of the words fish stocks are overexploited.
So with destroying and polluting the oceans we are not just causing harm to the creatures who live in the water but for our own kind too.

Preparation for the world women day

During the preparation for the world women day, we spoke about our projects on this day. That ended up in a discussion about the impact of men for this kind of projects. Is it okay that men are included in projects like that? Or should it be a thing just with women, because it´s „their“ day?

The international women day is for me a day to break up with prejudices and unequal treatment, and in my opinion, as many persons as possible should fight for this, independently of their gender.

In my opinion also men can be feministic and against unequality, and everyone who supports this is important.

Another point is that I think it is the wrong way to seperate into women and men again. To not seperate but to see everyone eqivalent is one of the most ipmortant points of equality for me.

I can also understand why people see it in the other way, that they want to have all the attention that this day gives just to women and to concentrate on them, but in my opinion it is more important to protest all together agains a problem, that affects nearly everyone.

So, let´s fight for equality all together. Both, women and men.

Do not forget the women day at the 8th of march!
