German lessons in a greek primary school
The two german lessons I got to be part of were about a famous german fairy tale which is called ‘’Der gestiefelte Kater’’. After I introduced myself to the class and answered their questions in german (!!), we started watching the movie of this fairy tale in german with greek subtitles. This way I also got the chance to learn a few words in greek. When the movie was finished we played pantomime with tasks connected to the movie. The kids had to act like they were a wizard, a cook, a clown, … etc., basically the characters who are part of the fairy tale. By connecting the new words with a picture it was really easy and a lot of fun for the pupils to learn the new vocabulary. The next tasks was to decorate jam glasses, this decoration was of course also related to the fairy tale. All in all I had a lot of fun this morning and I was really happy to see how happy this young greeks were to learn german and how special my appearance was for them, a real german girl.
This cooperation with the german teachers promotes not only the german language and culture but it also promotes the concept of EVS which emphasises the realtionship between the european countries. Furthermore I am really proud and happy to give these children an impression of Germany, our way of thinking and our language.
