Holocaust remembrance day

26/1/2019

Comments

Why is it important to remember the Holocaust?

Because....

-thousands of people were slaughtered in a cruel way
-millions of Jewish people died there
-a lot of people were a subject of medical experiments
-it was an organised crime against several national groups - mostly Jews
-the hatred and the fascist ideology led to these cruel and inhuman events.

Fascism and antisemitism are rising again all around the world, even though we already learnt where it leads. Humankind cannot let these things happen again. What can we do then? In history classes, we should talk about this topic again and again. The teachers have to show the photos, videos or any kind of memories about the Holocaust to face the past in order to build a better future.

Do not forget about the three magical words!

EDUCATE. READ. REMEMBER.

Intarnational day of education

School is a place to provide learning spaces and learning environments for the teaching for students under the direction of teachers.
There ar some levels you have to attend like:
Kindergarden,
Pree school,
Primary school,
Secondary school,
University,

Formal schools have existed at least since ancient Greece (Academy), ancient Rome (Education in Ancient Rome) ancient India (Gurukul), and ancient China (History of education in China).

Obligatory school attendance became common in parts of Europe during the 18th century. In Denmark-Norway, this was introduced as early as in 1739-1741.

Since the school attendance is obligatory still there are some kids who dont have a chance to attend to a school. There could be a lot of reasons for it. In some places the lowest levels of the schools isnt free or at least the price for the books are so high that they cant afford it. And further way there are some differences in the same level of schools. The place can be more different or the teachers and the level what they are teaching.

I think if the school is obligatory from 18th century and we are here in 2019 than everyone should get the chance to attend to at least a primary school and get the same kind of education.

The right to vote

We have the right to vote.
That sounds maybe unspectacular and obvious at first, but if you think about it a little bit longer, it´s something wonderful.

100 years ago, at the 19.01.1919, women in germany had the right to vote for the first time. 100 years, that seems short, especially when you think about the fact that men had the opportunity to vote around 1800.

The first country which had women´s suffrage was Australia in 1894, and the first european country was Finland in 1906. Even if these are the first states, 1894 and 1906 isn´t a long time ago. Women´s suffrage is something new, and the fight for it was long and exhausting. Interesting is also that Liechtenstein was the last european country in 1984, just 35 years ago.

Not to forget that there are also still a lot of countries which don´t have suffrage or democracy at all.

As you can see- it is a privileg that we- especially women- can vote. But even when there is this right, there are still a lot of persons, both, women and men who do not take the opportunity to take part at the politics of their country. We have to change that, because every vote counts, every person is important to ensure democracy and to make politic effective.

It is important that there are equal opportunities to vote, because every group of persons has special needs that the politic has to consider and everyone has to get noticed. Otherwise it is not a good working democracy in my eyes.An example for that is Germany 100 years ago, the first election with woman changed a lot in the distribution of the different parties, because the women had different needs.

So- Take your opportunity, go and vote when ever you have the chance to!
