International Day of Friendship

Everyone need human relationships in life. Family connection is really important but we also need friends. Friends are supporters, if you are tired of life they give you energy, they are on your side if something bad or good happen. You can share with them fears, happyness and sorrow and you can spend your freetime with them. They are like a second family but you choosed each other and maybe sometimes it is easier to talk because of the same age.
I am lucky because I have really good friends but I needed more time to find them. During my life I met with so many people in school or workplace but it wasn't so easy to find people who really approciate me, see my values. I think the easiest way to find friends if you do what you like, at the begining maybe alone but similar people will find each other at the end. Just like in any other relationship you have to be opened, you have to give to the others and you will get as well, trust the people and help them if you can.  After I met with my friends my life chenged, I never feel alone, i always have a company if I have a crazy idea like bycicle trip around a lake or barbecue in a forest at the winter. You can also dream together and help to make the dreams true.  Today is world friendship day so meet with your friends and spend nice time together to celebrate this day!

human trafficking DAY

30/7/2018

Comments

July 30 of each year is the international day against human trafficking. Every year, millions of men, women and children end up in the hands of smugglers to sell them, making them believe that they will receive a job and a better life, but this is only a strategy to be able to sell them to the highest bidder.
When smugglers achieve this, they do not care about anything other than money, they do not care if people are in poor sanitary conditions, they do not care if the children are far from their families, they do not care about the people, they see them as an object whereby they can make money, Even poor families sell their children to these smugglers in order to have money .When they manage to sell these people, the jobs they must do are like, prostitution, being slaves or forced labor, without receiving anything in return. Many of them are stripped of all their documentation  and are warned of terrible punishments if they escape, and often they are taken to unfamiliar countries where they don’t know the language and have no way of getting help, some die and are never heard of again by their families and communities .
Please, this is not a joke, this situation is real, millions of people are going through things you do not even imagine in your worst nightmares, anything you can do to stop this, it will be better than nothing. If you see something strange, if think that there may be this type of situation near you, please do not stand still, do something, you have at your disposal the emergency number 112

Paolo Borsellino

19/7/2018

Comments

A brave man who has spent his life serving his country.

Today Italy remembers one of the most important figures for the fight against the Mafia, his name is Paolo Borsellino.
He was an Italian magistrate assassinated by Cosa Nostra along with five agents of his escort.
On July 19, 26 years ago, after having lunched at Villagrazia di Carini with his wife Agnese and his sons Manfredi and Lucia, Paolo Borsellino went with his escort in via D'Amelio, where his mother lived.
At 4:58 pm a Fiat 126 filled with TNT, which was parked under the mother's house, detonated to the judge's passage, killing besides the Borsellino also the five escort agents Emanuela Loi, Agostino Catalano, Vincenzo Li Muli, Walter Eddie Cosina and Claudio Traina
First of all, Cosa Nostra was the most powerful mafia organization in Italy.
Paolo Borsellino is considered one of the most important and prestigious figures in the fight against the mafia in Italy, together with his colleague and friend Giovanni Falcone.
The reason why I decided to remember this person is because I want to promote and promulgate his work abroad, rather than letting noble deeds fall into oblivion.

On July 24, about 10,000 people took part in the private funeral of Borsellino (the family refused the state ceremony: his wife Agnese accused the government of not being able to protect her husband, and wanted a private ceremony without the presence of politicians), celebrated in an unadorned and peripheral church of Santa Maria Luisa, where the judge used to hear mass, when he could, on Sundays. The funeral oration was pronounced by Antonino Caponnetto, the old judge who had directed the office of Falcone and Borsellino: "Dear Paolo, the fight you have sustained will have to become and will become the struggle of each one of us". Few politicians: the president Scalfaro, Francesco Cossiga, Gianfranco Fini, Claudio Martelli. The funeral is moved and composed, interrupted only by some clapping. A few days earlier, the funeral of the 5 escort agents had taken place in the Cathedral of Palermo, but when the representatives of the State arrived (including the new President of the Italian Republic, Oscar Luigi Scalfaro), an angry mob broke through the barrier created by the 4000 agents called to keep order, while the people, tugging and pushing, shouted: "Outside the mafia from the state". The President of the Republic was barely pulled out of the crowd, the police chief was also jostled.

Today we say thank you Paolo, thanks because you did your duty even when the same government that was supposed to defend you was against you.
Thanks for your teachings, i assure you that you are an inspiration for many guys who decide to follow your path.

International mandela day

The Nelson Mandela International Day of 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of his birth. The Centennial is an excellent opportunity to reflect on his life and legacy, and follow in his footsteps to "make the world a better place". The Nelson Mandela Foundation dedicates its efforts this year to fighting poverty, in honor of Mandela's dedication and leadership in the fight against poverty and the promotion of social justice.Nelson Mandela Day not only celebrates Nelson Mandela’s life, but it is also a global call to action for people to recognize their ability to have a positive effect on others around them. The day hopes to inspire people to embrace the values that Mandela shared. These values include democracy, freedom, equality, diversity, reconciliation, and respect.
Many people and organizations around the world take part in many activities to promote Nelson Mandela Day. These activities include volunteering, sport, art, education, music and culture. Various events are also held on or around July 18 to honor Nelson Mandela’s works and to promote the different projects that were inspired by Mandela’s achievements
Nelson Mandela continues to be a source of inspiration for the world with his example of courage and compassion and his commitment to social justice and the culture of freedom and peace.
One of the most important lessons we can learn from Nelson Mandela is that to move forward we have to look forward, however difficult it may be.
For 18 years Nelson Mandela was known as prisoner 46664. However, he was never a prisoner of his past. After being sentenced to forced labor and isolation on Robben Island, he overcame suffering and indignity and led his country, and our world, towards a more hopeful future.
He did not succumb to bitterness or personal animosity, but devoted his tremendous energy to realizing his ideal of a peaceful, multiethnic and democratic South Africa.
Nelson Mandela once said that a saint could be defined as a sinner who continued to strive. What a resounding message of hope in a world divided by fear and cynicism. It's never too late to face the future and try again.
Today, in commemorating Nelson Mandela's life of dedication, the best tribute we can give to this great man are not words or ceremonies, but actions that improve our world.
Each of us can make a difference by promoting peace, human rights, sustainable development and a decent life for all. Each of us can find inspiration in the example of Nelson Mandela and his famous words: It always seems impossible until it is done.
Let's build on Nelson Mandela's legacy

One centenary

Picture

Nelson Mandela International Day

On the 18th of July we remember to Nelson Mandela. This was the day when this great person, 21 century role model, the symbol of peace and freedom was born in 1918, exactly 100 years ago.
Nelson Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist, who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was the first black head of state who firstly won in a fully representative democratic election. He represented nationalist and socialist ideas.
Mandela was born to the Thembu royal family in Mvezo, British South Africa. He was repeatedly arrested for seditious activities in 1962 sentenced to life imprisonment in the Rivonia Trial for his sabotage campaign against the government. He spent 17 years in prison split between Robben Island, Pollsmoor Prison, and Victor Verster Prison, F. W. de Klerk president released him in 1990, they fought together against the discrimination on grounds of race. In 1994 Mandela led the ANC to victory and became a president, created the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to investigate past human rights abuses. Despite of his socialist beliefs retained its predecessor's liberal framework, introduced measures to encourage land reform. Nelson Mandela rejected his second presidential term in 1999 and focused on combating poverty and HIV/AIDS through the charitable Nelson Mandela Foundation. He won more than 250 honours for his activities including the Nobel Peace Prize. In South Africa they call him the "Father of the Nation"
After his dead Nelson Mandela still insprirate people.  In 2015 the General Assembly approved the "Nelson Mandela Rules" which helps the social inclusion of the prisoners and approciate the work of prison staff. The 18th of July is Nelson Mandela International. This day reminds us that everyone has the ability and the responsibility to change the world for a better place, we need to take actions and inspire the change.

World Youth Skills Day 2018

15 July is World Youth Skills Day

Picture

July 15th is a world day for youth skills. This initiative was born to help the new generations to be ready for future jobs. In fact a study has established that by 2030, half of the young people in the world will not have the basic skills they need to get a job, and two billion jobs are likely to become obsolete because of technological developments.
With technological progress, we do not have the same ease to find a job.
The machines are going to replace many of the old tasks, therefore the new generations must adapt to changes, acquire skills to cover more complicated roles than in the past, but it’s not all.
The acquisition of skills is essential to enter the labor market, to create a saleable professional figure.
This is why the choice on what to study is extremely important. Based on our own abilities, predispositions and the things that we like, we have to base our studies on acquiring skills. Only with passion can we do our jobs to the fullest.
The most important thing is to understand that each of us has a kind of talent, we just have to find out and cultivate it.
Each of us should ask himself or herself about our own goals and what they could become if only they really wanted it.
Success is something that starts from the inside, we should follow a dream, a desire, a vision and make the quality of our life better.

youth skills day

Picture

The day 15 of July is celebrated the youth skills day since 2014, this day has as objective express the preocupation of youth without work and that inquisition of news skills improve reasoning when they make decisition.
In my opinion as a young it’s true that adults despise us because they think that we don’t have the same capabilities as them at work and that does not seem right to me, they should treat us with more equality, sine as they did we are learning and developing our skills for our future work, they have to understand the situation of youth people. I hope that this day makes adults reflects.

In conclusion, the age doesn’t matter.

World Youth Skills Day 2018

After a few clicks on the internet everyone can find out what World Youth Skills Day is about, why it is important to celebrate and bring attention to it. In my opinion everyone possesses some kind of skills. People think those skills are more or less significant than others or some might think they don’t even have one. I say they are just not aware of it. These things can be discovered and improved by education and trainings, however, for a lot of people there is not this opportunity. And even if they have, the education system is rigid and not suitable to bring the best out of people. Every young person from different backgrounds faces the challenges of the world.

Personally I have my own fears about my skills, eventhough I am from a central european country, I am more lucky than some people in world, you can say that I am well educated, but still, I have doubts too. All my life I have known what I wanted to do after school, how I am going to enter the real working life, but as I got closer to it I became unsure. I started to doubt every thought I had about this. Why? Because I had some experiences from summer jobs.

One time I worked  as a seller at a festival tent, I worked at least 6 hours every evening for way less than the minimum wage per hour. There were even times when my boss made me work for about 18 hours and I almost got the same amount of money. I just got a very little more than the usual. If I remember correctly, my hourly pay was around 1 euro worth in our currency. Actually it was and still is illegal, but people do this anyway. My boss really took advantage of me. I knew this was not good, but I wanted to work and he could do this to me because I was young. He didn’t think of me as one true member of the labour market, an equal. He only saw me as a kid and treated me accordingly to that. I didn’t acted like a kid. I worked hard, I did everthing right. He was lucky with me and wanted me back for the next summer. I didn’t go.

Another example is my internship at the end of my university. I was working in a bank. It was a small bank, the environment was friendly. The problem with it was that they only saw me as an intern, a young girl. They asked me to stay with them after my internship was over and I stayed for another month, however, nothing changed. I still felt less than one of them.

I also worked in a place where I worked less days because I am a female. There were boyish and girlish job posts. There were more boyish than girlish places in the Aquapark so the boys could work about 20 days in one month while I was lucky to have 10 days. However the task was the same, guard the pools and slides, make sure everyone is safe, just in different parts of the Water Park. The girls had to be always with children, on very rare occasion we could go to the big slides. Our bosses thought we, girls, don’t have the confidence to deal with problematic guests. Why should girls do that if there are the boys for that? I ask: why shouldn’t? At least give me the opportunity. Don’t think I cannot handle things only because I am a woman. I loved working there and this kind of discrimination was my only bad memory.

After all these I can say that even if you have the skills they need they don’t give you the benefit of the doubt. Only because you are young or a woman. This needs to change. From the very begining like giving those kind of education which focus on the individuals skills, we shouldn’t be judged based on the same things, we are different. After this, the behavior of the employers towards young people need to change. If they successfully gained some skills from the school, let them benefit you in the long run and not take advantage of them in short time.

These experiences opened my eyes, gave me fears and doubts but I also learned a lot of things, I improved in several ways. Now, I am volunteering in a foreign country, which gives me another opportunity to obtain new skills and improve my existing ones. I am sure I will return home more confidently and that is always an advantage if you want to get a job you are actually interested in. I strongly advise any kind of volunteering because it gives another perspective and it is a good way to celebrate World Youth Skills Day.
