International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women 25 November

25/11/2018

Comments

A safe toilet for saving millions of lifes

For some of you the World Toilet Day may seem funny or useless but probably you just don’t know enough to evaluate the importance of the International World Toilet Day. The Campaign taught me that even in 2018 billions of people live without a safe toilet and that human faeces are devastating for health, living and working conditions and other areas of life.
In my opinion it was really overwhelming to see how many problems are coursed by not having a safe toilet. I really changed my point of view seeing the World Toilet Day more and more as an important step to improve the
current situation of sanitation in the world. Furthermore you can see that sanitary facilities are influencing the sustainable development in a big way which means that many issues like bad water quality or pollution in big cities are coursed by that.

Hazardous Waste Prevention: Time to Detox!

The thematic focus for 2018 is Hazardous Waste Prevention (17-25 November). It poses a greater risk to our health and our environment when compared to other types of waste. Thus, it is even more important to reduce our consumption of products with hazardous contents as well as make sure that they are properly disposed of. In 2018, it is time to detox and diminish the use of such products in our nearest surroundings such as bathrooms, kitchens, sheds and garages!

Furthermore new ideas and innovations in regard to the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), witch was launched on the 22nd

Roads have stories

The different kind of transportations are so part of our lives that we don’t even give importance to them anymore. We sit in a car, get on a bus, tram or metro, we ride on a motorbike or bicycle and carry on casually. No big deal, right? However, road accidents can happen anytime. Either you are the cause or the victim. Just in seconds ignoring a few driving rules or losing focus can change your whole life dramatically – and that is still the better option, because it means you are still alive.

We are in such a hurry nowadays. We rush from point A to point B – a lot of time without reason. We are doing this meanwhile dangering everyone’s lives around us. One time, I did the same too. I was taking my two best friends and my sister to another city and I was taking over a bus meanwhile a truck was coming from the front. I avoided the crash only by seconds. I got in front of the bus without causing any emergency braking from each „participants”. It could have been worse and a lot more worse, but luckily it wasn’t. I promised myself to never do it again. Never anymore! It’s just not worth it. It happaned in the first year after I got my driving licence, at 17. Since then, I am driving more calm, carefully and everyone that I take just compliments me how they don’t feel in any danger, not like with someone else. Fortunately, it was ’just’ a shock, an adrenaline rush for me that opened my eyes, but for some people it’s nothing and they continue to drive dangerously until really something awful happen. However from there, there is no going back. Let’s not reach that point.
Picture
This happans a lot of times, because people are selfish. They allow themselves not to follow the rules, because they are the exceptions. I can go a little faster, I don’t put on my seatbelt for this little time, I can smoke while driving, I know my alcohol limit. So not true! Don’t fool yourselves! Thanks to these false pretenses innocents die. I don’t know how many times I heard from the news that the person who caused the accident walks away with a few scratches while the victims have suffered permanent injuries or worst case scenario, they died.

3400 people die on the road everyday. Watch out for yourselves! Be more careful, because sometimes it’s just not enough that You follow the rules. We really need to improve more road safety and maybe we arrive there you only need to consider how you are doing on the road.

PS.: Zero tolerance for drinking and driving without any explanation!

Don't judge a book by its cover

Picture
Tolerance's probably one of the most important words in this new society which's getting more intercultural day by day and that's reason i'd like to invite you to read this article and take this topic a slight bit more in care.
Well, what i want to say about it it's what tolerance means.
Tolerance itself is just respect for other cultures, learn about them and spend times with other peoples from other countries.
The tolerance is not a right, it's not something you got to obey, tolerance is natural, it's in our NDA because we are naturally diverses and without tolerance our society will get to it end.
And one of the most usefulls ways to erase the intolerance hang out ourself in the society, person by person, creating and promoting tolerance via street.

The impact of philosophy on our everyday life

16/11/2018

Comments

The impact of philosophy is bigger than most people would think. Lately, in the era of information technology and social media, philosophy may useless or old-fashioned. But, what is the most important thing in order to success in science?

Thinking. And even more important: to think logically. Ancient philosophers set the basics of logic and scientific thinking - well, you can say that they are really old, but in their ages they were outraging.
Picture
But later on, the philosophers of the new eras were also influential on many fields of humanities - history, literature and law were the most important. And these things.. you just cannot say that they are not influencing your life!
You study your national history in school, you (hopefully) read many many books - and law controls our daily life. Sounds familiar, right?

International day of diabetes

14/11/2018

Picture

Since its creation in 1991, the World Diabetes Day, organized every November 14, is the symbol of a collective mobilization. Its goal: to make diabetes better known, its management and especially the means to prevent it.

With 400 million people with diabetes worldwide, it's a real pandemic and a major public health issue. Information, prevention, care and support for patients are essential aspects of rolling back the disease. Unfortunately today there is no way to cure the disease.

Healthcare professionals and the general public need to be aware of the  importance of prevention in identifying risks early, preventing them and controlling them .

Even if the heredity plays a role in its emergence, we associate the growing prevalence of diabetes with diet and lifestyle: abundance of refined sugars, saturated fat and meat, dietary fiber, overweight, lack of physical activity. As these characteristics increase in a given population, the incidence of diabetes increases.

Picture

I have in my family a lot of diabetics, among others my brother who discovered that he was diabetic at the age of 14 years. However some announcer signs did not worry my parents: obesity, need to drink, need to urinate, slower healing ...

It was by chance that my aunt had come on vacation, she also diabetic, proposed to test each member of the family. This is where blood glucose raised a huge sugar level with more than 3g in the blood (normally between 0.80g and 1.20g on an empty stomach). Following this, the finding of type 2 diabetes, insulin care by injection, dietary diet.

For my mother, she also had diabetes after her last pregnancy when she was 42 years old. Normally gestational diabetes only last during pregnancy, but having many diabetics in the family, it remained even after childbirth.
