In the present, one of the most important environmental problems that cities have is air pollution, whose origin is mostly made by emissions from an unsustainable transport that is mainly based on the use of the car. These emissions, besides of increasing pollution levels in cities, are responsible for climate change.
We must understand that environmental problems are up to date. There are more and more cars, even more than two cars per family. We must also be aware that when we reduce the use of vehicles, we contribute to our health.
It has been an intense week of citizen awareness activities so that they understand the importance of caring for the environment and the footprint we leave in our world.
But, do we know what the ecological footprint is? The ecological footprint is what allows us to evaluate the impact that a specific activity has on our environment, being compared with the capacity of the environment and thus be able to define whether an activity is sustainable or not.
