It is celebrated around the whole world. Youth are key agents of social change, economic development and technological innovation. Ultimately, the future of the planet, so it is necessary to celebrate this day with and for all youth.
Young people are the group of people between 18 and 29 years old that currently makes up the largest generation in history. Their imagination, ideals, energy and vision are essential for the continuing development of the societies of which they are a part.
The promotion of this day supports measures, both national and international for:
- Improve the participation of youth in the activities of the United Nations, as well as in society and in the decision-making process.
- Develop policies in priority areas such as education, employment, hunger and poverty, health, environment, drug abuse and juvenile delinquency.
- Develop channels of communication and cooperation between youth organizations, agencies of the United Nations system and other intergovernmental youth organizations.
